A good deal -- but still not fantastic.

Unfortunately, a week ago, there was a coupon for this to knock off another $50 -- my friend bought it for right around $415 with shipping. Was a great deal then, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy it then. Hopefully, will be better/equivalent deal on Cyber-Monday.

I have this lappy actually using it now to type this reply, pretty good 4gb ram upgrade is ESSENTIAL ...saw it for 299 Black friday deal somewhere online yesterday.....Newegg is cool but if you wanna save 150 dollars I would go with the BF deal.....not bad lappy but Acer doesn't come with good support so if your not computer savvy you may have some little problem formatting and blah blah...

thanks, that is a nice deal.
i don't suppose there's a very good chance of actually being
able to buy one at that price though.

Karnivore --

Online or B&M? (If B&M, what state/city, if you don't mind me asking...) I'm really interested in the Newegg laptop -- a friend has it and it's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!

To follow up, the Acer lappy from Microcenter is a Celeron Dual Core. Not sure it's worth it, even at $299.

* Intel® Celeron® Dual-Core Processor T1600
* 1GB DDR2-667 RAM
* 160GB 5,400RPM Hard Drive
* 8x SuperMulti Double Layer DVD±RW Drive
* 5-in-1 Media Card Reader
* Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M
* 802.11b/g/Draft-N Wi-Fi Certified Wireless Network
* 14.1" WXGA CrystralBrite Display
* Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic

(thanks to the guys at SD for that clarification)

The laptop at Microcenter is probably worth it -- I saw it this weekend, but it wasn't to my liking... I've never had a laptop that's light/wight before -- that kind of color just throws me off. Also a little heavier and the aspect ratio isn't widescreen, although it claims it... Just looks really bulky, in my opinion. Might work really good for someone who needs to get their parents with the times, etc.

Thanks, Karnivore -- I may have to run by my local OD and see if they have any still... Although I imagine they probably don't.

How do you read the posts?

299 is clearly only for their pre-holiday sales.
