Sorry, I've been into notebook gaming for awhile. How good is the processor? has ecs motherboards improved in quality lately? I used to have a first ever ecs motherboard and it was horrible. Is this a pricedrop since coreI7 is out? Thanks.

Edit, did some googling. Wow this is a good deal. Newegg sells for $319 for the processor alone. The Mobo is also not that bad according to a few reviews. Basic but has decent intergrated video and of course limited bios overclock. Kicker is that CoreI7 processor is about 100 bucks more and you know how tech goes, its too close in price for the new stuff. Nice deal. I may hold off though and save money cause of the troubling economy. Green for OP!

Now I have to check the Houston ad. Frys does not post their local ad online.

ECS Motherboard

I think that's the motherboard it comes with.

# EXPANSION SLOT

* 1 x PCI Express x16 slot
* 1 x PCI Express x1 slot
* 2 x PCI slots

Doesn't look like it will support PCI-e 2.0 How important is that? Esp for you gamers who need a high texture transfer rate.

Damn, not for online.

This seems like a micro board! Now off for a deal for a good HTPC case deal! Memory and PSU should be on good bargains on Black Friday anyway.

Would have pulled the trigger in a second if it was available online. Alas it is not.

Let's put it this way: I bought this processor (retail box) for my desktop build back in September. I got a real good price of $279 at Fry's. The price I paid is still pretty decent today. Now they are offering the combo for $229. Even if it is an OEM chip, it is still an exceptional price at this point. You could just throw away the motherboard, or sell it on eBay, and it would still be a terrific deal at this stage. In the end, it is a great processor that I absolutely love. I would take the deal if I were you.

Just picked up 1 combo this morning 8am at Frys in City of Industry, CA. It's in the AD on LA times also.
It's boxed Q9550, not OEM.
