When I shopped at Sports Authority, they had a little blurb on the receipt:

Sign up at Sportsauthority.com/save and receive a $25 coupon off your next purchase of $100 or more. Sign up DOES NOT require any receipt information. I signed up on 11/17 and received the coupon which is valid from Nov 16 to Nov 29.

Note: Sports Authority has been printing this coupon in their sales flyer - they printed it last week and they again printed it this week. If they print it next week too, the signing up gets you nothing. If they don't print it next week, then it might be useful.

Cash Back is available from FatWallet!Sports Authority: 4.0% Cash Back » See offers, coupons, ratings, and applicable restrictions. (see conditions)

Today I bought 2 $50 gift cards. I made a purchase right at $100 for a net of $75, but it gets a LOT better. In the grocery forum I have posted-receive a $25 rebate for a $50 purchase from Miller (including gift cards). The rebate is only 1 per household, but I sent 1 to me and 1 to my sister.

$100 purchase minus $25 coupon minus $50 rebates=$25 net cost. Actually one could do this for just about anywhere that has a coupon or % off. Also did this with the WalMart/AMEX deal.

Will Dick's Sporting take this $25 coupon?

The sales associate told me on 11/22 that everything in their store would be 25% off on BF. Don't know how reliable this info is since it was just the person ringing me up that told this to me. She also had stacks of 25% off any one item coupons next to her register that she let me use for two transactions. My purchase was a little over $100 so it ended up saving me an additional $10 instead of just the 25 off 100. This was in Austin, TX.

Coupon excludes gift cards. So you got lucky.

Bought 2 $50 gift cards, used the cards for a $100 purchase, and used $25 off, then sent in for my 2 $25 rebates. Net cost still $25. Didn't "get lucky" at all. I also did this for the WalMart deal. Net cost for $100 purchase was $30 there.

So if I hear you correctly, gift card was an extraneous detail. The same deal could have been done with a credit card.
