Most experts question the ability to get any advantage from 1080p on sets under 50", I would think it would be about impossible on a little 32" set - unless you have it sitting in your lap . Nice price, but a 720p 32" should be less money and look as good.

1080p is better if you plan to also use it with a computer not just as a tv.

if just as a tv I think most reviews out there agree 720 is enough at this size

For the billionth time, there is no distinction anymore between TV and computer sources. Electronic program guides, subtitles, text, etc. render dramatically better at 1080p even with a 32-inch screen. Do you know anyone who's comfortable looking at text and graphics on a monitor with a paltry 720 lines of resolution?

It's 2008 folks, get with it.

Anyone bought the Samsung 32" TV (LN32A300) at Sears Friends and Family sales last night and has an opinion on its quality? This TV will be sold on black friday at CC as well.

I watch HD movies on my 24" LCD computer monitor and I can tell a difference between 1080 movies and 720. Granted I'm sometimes sitting just two or three feet away, but even across the room 1080 delivers a noticeable crispness.

That whole "you won't miss 1080 on a sub-50 inch screen" made sense two years ago when the price difference was $500 to $1000. Today, with 1080 panels so cheap, you'd be hard pressed to make that same argument... unless you're one of those guys who dumped a bundle on a 720 screen a few years back and need to continually pump yourself up about it...

Do most "experts" bother to include viewing distances when talking about the benefits of different resolutions?

can I use this as a desktop monitor? I remember Apple's 30" not too large.

Would anyone care to comment on the quality of the OP's TV vs this Sharp 32" from Costco? Link

I know the OP's is 1080 vs the Sharp just 768, but I don't know what else to look at. I don't see contrast or viewing angles listed on the Toshiba, or know anything about picture quality or manufacturing quality of Toshiba vs Sharp. I like the idea of buying from Costco in case I have any problems, but obviously want the best TV for the money as well.

TIA

Apple's 30" is 2560x1600 resolution. This 32" is only 1920x1080.
However, I think it would be a nice computer monitor to set on a desktop for someone who would prefer larger text and icons over screen real-estate. It is 68.8ppi (pixels per inch).

I bought a Samsung 32" LN32A450 recently. Image quality is pretty amazing. I haven't tried using it as a computer monitor so I can't comment on that, but HD sources look pretty damn good (HDTV, Xbox 360, PS3 and Blu-Ray DVDs)

Has any1 used Gaming mode & a PS3? Gaming Mode on my Panasonic projector has lots of room for improvement so I don't want to have unrealistic expectations.
