Panasonic plasmas have been getting good marks. I hadn't been looking at plasmas too much and may still hold out for a good Sony or Samsung lcd deal. But for those who are interested...limited time offer and didn't give any end dates.

I couldn't get the $300 discount to work at checkout so several calls to CSR had to be made.
After several conversations with CSR..2 of which couldn't speak English...The cost of the TV was updated to $984.... So my final cost of the TV works out like this....

1238 - 254 (cost of player) = $984 for TV - $150 Sony Credit Card = $834

What is funny is I just bought this DVD player at BB today for $300 plus tax..I don't recall ever seeing this TV or any other 50" 1080p plasma at this low of a price...Definitely worth staying up till 3AM

I don't understand how you subtracted the cost of the player twice? Should be 1238 minus your Sony discount right?

It looks like you might have gotten lucky. I just got off the phone and they wouldn't honor the promotion.

Seems like the $1238 is the cost of TV + DVD player. To get the real cost of the TV, he is subtracting the cost of the DVD player.

They are just assuming the BR player is worth that much and showing the net cost of the TV. If you could sell it for that price, then that is a good way to look at it. Otherwise, it is a free BR player with $50 or so off the TV.

BTW, I tried it with several models and NONE of them works to take the $300 off at checkout. OP should have at least checked the deal before posting it.

The deal is listed on the website....Why should he have to check it out. The CSR I spoke with went to the website and read the promotion..The deducted the $300.

At worst I could sell the player for $200 so I think I still got a good deal if I sold it for $200. Reason I think it is a great deal is because I need a blu ray player anyway and I just happened to buy the same one from BB yesterday.

Maybe it's not a good deal for others but I would bet the if the TV alone selling for 1284- $46 (discount your getting over cost of player) - $200 u sell the player for = $1038 then I think people would be all over it....but again...maybe not...

I tried doing it thru the link but could never get the $300.00 off the price, it kept ringing up at $1538.00 total. I had to call 2X to Amazon and finally after much discussion, arguing and they telling me that this was not a current deal and that this was for last week only. That the current special is for a TH46PZ85U with the Bluray player for like $15.78.00 I aked for a supervisor. In the end I got the deal for 1238.49 with TH50PZ800U and the BluRay with NO TAX and Free Shipping. It will take like 14 days to get the items delivered but what the hell. In my opinion, this 1080P with a matching BluRay with no tax and free shipping to be a sweet deal and I dont have to wait until Black Friday. I doubt that any other Stores or E stores will be doing much better than this deal on or after Black Friday

I think the deal is current, but Amazon site screws up, and the CSR was smoking dope. Appears to be the effect of cost-cutting. Amazon has become less reliable lately.

Congrats to you....Persistence pays off....Like I said, even if you sell the player for $200 you still the cost of the TV would end up being $1038 and I don't believe anyone is gonna dip that low anytime soon. They are selling the 720P for $899 for BF plus tax...so you are getting a 1080P for $100 more...

BTW...did you get the 80U or the 800U? The 800U is considerably more expensive

I can't believe this deal is not drawing the attention of more people. People were ecstatic to get the TV for $1299 just 2 months ago and now it is at right at the sub 1K mark and not drawing much interest..maybe everyone has got what they want already

It's hard to get attention to a deal that doesn't work right. If I could actually get the order placed, I'd be thrilled with it. But, the site doesn't work and the reps don't seem to have a clue.

yeah... i am wondering the same. if you got the 800U and the bluray player for $1238.49, then you my friend got a stellar deal!

i have the 800U and it is great! if i can pull off the 800U and bluray player for $1238.49, then i would buy another one for the bedroom.

I agree with the rep statement...One I talked to kept trying to tell me the the reason the discount was working is because the TV wouldn't ship for 12 months...I told her to look at the website...it shows in stock...had the same problem with the player...she said I don't get free shipping because it is from a vendor..I told her to click on the link on the right that says Amazon...she was as sharp as a bowling ball...plus being from India..I told her she was clueless and hung up..Called back and got the CSR that could read and said..yep...you should get the $300 credit...said she would forward the request up. I told her that I wanted to speak to her supervisor because I knew he had the authority to make the change then and that I wasn't getting off the phone until I received the credit. I was nice about it though. I was on hold off and on for 30 minutes but finally got it...

Well, after talking to about five reps throughout the day, I've got to take the position that this deal is dead and that anyone who got a rep to honor it was very lucky.

Congratulations to you!

Sucks for the rest of us!

Thanks, I got the TH50PZ80U witht he BluRay for $1239.48 includes shipping and no tax. Like I said earlier I think I got a sweet deal or 1080P unit. I don't think it will get uch cheaper even during black friday, I especiallu did not want to stand in any lines or get up at the crack of dawn to line up for what is essentially a crapshoot. This way I am already in the barn with the goods by November 28th.

When I had first posted it from this morning, the deal was working. I don't know if they are in the process of making changes, but I don't think this was available last week. Looking for a couple of new tvs (LCD or Plasma), I check Amazon a few times a day to see what new deals may have popped up and I don't recall seeing this one at all.

I'm hoping that this gets fixed, I don't need to spend more time on the phone with wonderful Amazon CSRs.

I don't doubt that. When I first went to the site, the promotion even showed on the web page for at least one of the TV's - I didn't check them all. I don't think it was available last week either. Like you, I've been checking regularly. And, if it had been available, wouldn't someone have posted it here or on some of the other deal sites?? After searching multiple places I don't see anything that would make me believe that it was actually an old promotion.

So, I'm also hoping that there's just a mistake somewhere and we'll all be able to get in on this. But, based on my experience so far, I'm not going to hold my breath.
