The economy has Las Vegas struggling trying to fill rooms. Traditionally, room rates are drastically inflated on New Years. I have to be in Vegas this New Years and did a Priceline bid and secured TheHotel at Mandalay Bay for 180 per night for 2 nights. You can't get a weekend night there for that price. The listed rate for the room I got is 599.00. Just a friendly tip to fellow FW'ers to try Priceline when you can.

And yes, it looks like TheHotel is going for $162-165 for NYE on Priceline.

Tripres.com has been offering some pretty good deals for December/January.

I keep getting the telemarketing calls from Wyndham etc.. I have been to a couple of them. they are a big headache, but at the end you get great freebies - like free tickets to stay at hotels in Vegas. Just remember to say no for EVERYTHING in those meetings / demos they setup. I have a couple left - hope they do not expire!

Well,SFCA the main point of starting this thread is that we are seeing significant price reductions in Las Vegas rooms. I have never seen weekend rates and holiday rates this low before at the 4 and 5 star hotels......for the non-comped traveler.

As far as 120 for New Years Eve at the Venetian and Wynn.....haven't seen that anywhere, but it's a great rate if you can get it. Room rates via website are Wynn 374 and Venetian 349 for the lowest cost room.

Anyway, I am going to cancel my Priceline room for medical problems in the family. I did buy the insurance. Think I'll start a thread on this.

Time share pitches not worth it in LV, period. I can see the benefit in smaller resort cities where prices are always sky high but that's never the case for LV; it's just an endless array of deals to be found without having to waste half your day at a time share pitch.

Thanks OP for the great idea, I stay at TheHotel for 12/31 night, the hotel checkin gave me a very nice strip view room, I saw the firework nearby & another one near MGM. For the price of $180 including tax & fee, this price can't even stay at 4 star or even nicer 3 star hotel.

Got 7 nights at the La Quinta Nellis for $39 a night from 1/11 to 1/18.. (Hotwire)

And before I hear about how one can stay at a station or on the strip cheaper - not many pet friendly places in Vegas. Not bad for a place that doesn't traditionally drop rates. Stayed at this place before so I was pretty confident on the amenities listed. One of the nicer hotels in that area..
