I think they are last years models, but they've got great reviews.

5 1/4"
6 1/2"
6 x 9"

Edit--I can't get the link to work right, so just go to www.Crutchfield.com and search for infinity kappa.

So all you speaker junkies... how do you deal with rattles? I dont even mean with speakers, just in general... I assume with bigass speakers you all have some rattles...

Are there any tricks to hone in on what in the car is rattling and how to torque it down?

Don't believe this

Crutchfield said:2-ohm impedance for extra power (compatible with all factory or aftermarket car stereos.

They defend this line saying the small factory wiring in your car is so resistive that it will increase the load to 4ohms by the time it reaches your radio. Complete BS.

I have an aftermarket Kenwood HU ($300 on sale, not one of the low end models) and the internal amp would overheat when after I installed my infinity speakers. Never had this problem with the stock speakers. I sent it in to kenwood and it tested fine, the tech even called me and left a message saying that I need to make sure I'm not feeding it to low of an impedence. He hit it right on the head.

These are the speakers I own for reference.
I ended up buying an external amp that can handle 2 ohm loads (needed a bandpass filter anyway) The speakers are great, but they will not work with all headunits.

If your radio is meant for 4 ohm speakers, then buy 4 ohm speakers.

dynamat, second skin, brown bread, edead, etc. All sticky back or roll on sound deadeners. Easy to install, but requires you to pretty much completely disassemble the interior of your car. Can be a pain. Also helps to stick small strips of cloth between interior panels that are hitting each other or the shell of the car.

These 2 ohm speakers will be great for BOSE stereo systems and other "premium" factory stereos that utilize a 2 ohm speaker system.

If used with a headunit that is not rated for 2 ohm use, it will probably overheat.

Aftermarket amplifiers will handle the 2ohm load 99% of the time.

secondskin is the best imo in regards to dealing w/ rattles but be prepared to spend over $300+ in deadner if you want luxury car quality. I've invested about $430 in sound deadning and im not close to being done.

Infinity speakers have really good highs but aren't the best for lows and they are solid in the midrange. I have a set of infinity perfect components but use to have kappas and there isn't too much of a difference the kappa series is really good.

How easy are these to install for someone with very little car experience? The most I've ever done is replace my head unit. I'd really like to get new speakers, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to install them myself. Also, how do I tell which speakers will fit in my car and which won't? What do I need to check before purchasing speakers?

Thanks!

I just bought a full size car and am upgrading a basic am/fm stereo (not a premium sound system) ,, I started with replacing the speakers of course and it made a great improvement (this is a Crown Vic police car and had 6*8 one-way ovals with whizzer cones in both front doors and package tray) ,, new speakers are 4 way Pioneers TS-A6882's in the original size .. decent voice coils , big magnets and stiff cones that will not soak up moisture/humidity .... I intend to buy a cd/mp3/hdradio capable front end from Crutchfield as I need a install kit for this car anyway and they include one... when I install the head unit I will place 1" dome tweets (with cuts at approx 3-5khz) in/on the dash corners at that time... The one thing I would like to add would be a powered sub that can just piggyback off of one of the rear speaker connections... doesn't need to be huge ,, just enough to balance out all the treble I have now (single 10 or 12"??).. I already have power run to the trunk (4 guage for police radio stack).

For a powered sub do you like any particular brand or do you just buy specs? What do you like??

I'm not looking to spend a fortune on this car ,, it's for business and although I spend a lot of time in it I can't see going wild..

You can go to Crutchfield.com and click "What fits my car" to see what speakers came with it ,, what can be substituted and such ,, generally speakers aren't difficult but you will need a few specialty tools for door panels and such... I just did speakers in my car and couldn't have completed the doors without an angle grinder to shorten the mounting screws...you will always have something pop up unexpected to deal with...

Go to "Car Audio & Video" on the top left and then "Outfit my car", then search for infinity kappa again to see if they fit. If you replaced your head unit, you shouldn't have any problem upgrading your speakers.

WOW!

Now they are selling them at prices I paid on eBay over 2 years ago.

Infinity Kappa speakers rock.

I have the 3 way 6x9's and 4x6's in one car and 6 1/2 all the way around in another.

Plus (2) 1000W 4 channel 2 ohm amps to drive these babies till their punching me in the ribs.

Who ever said these ain't got bass, hasn't been in my ride...I don't need no stinking subs.

Everyone has different taste. It is theoretically and realistically impossible for your infinity's to produce more low end bass than my 12" Icon. There are notes those speakers can't even produce, but they're not designed to so that's no fault to them. 100-80hz and below, you need subs.

Don't trust it completely. Sometimes it is wrong. It is better to actually measure your speaker hole(WxLxD) and distance of holes. It might be more work but it will save you hassle in the long run and it might give you more options than you would have thought you had.

Normal SUV doors should fit most standard sizes and replace the current factory speakers like the 5 1/4", 6 1/2" and maybe even 6x9"

Amazon is selling these with free shipping (supplied by Crutchfield) here. I didn't check the other models.

Is shipping free from Crutchfield ?
Does Amazon supply all the Crutchfield "extras" ?

Actually, the Amazon ones in your link are 3 way instead of 2 way. Price is $10 more, but might be worth it.
