Lilricky said:Why? Windows 7 is simply Vista, rewrapped. True. But Vista isn't a terrible operating system. It just has a lot of little hassles and is a bit hungry on resources; which is all going to be taken care of with Windows 7. Anyways, this is a good deal OP, thanks. |

Vista uses more resources because they are available, technology has improved. If you try running vista on a 2 or 3 year old computer it will suck what do you expect. If you run it on a 400-500$ laptop its not going to be as good as a 700-800$ laptop its common sense its not a bad OS. It was apples smear campaign that killed vista. |
.
OR Do I have to buy new software to use with WinVista? Thank You Cajun
|
The same software should work (specially if you are running 32 bit vista). I personally like Vista as well. |
Vista doesn't even show pciture thumbnails in widnows explorer. unbelievable. |

Microsoft had a PR nightmare on its hands when beta testers first landed their hands on copies of a next-generation operating system which had few of the "next-generation" features promised to them in the years after XP's release. It's a good OS, undoubtedly, but Microsoft's marketing machine did not anticipate how many would be disappointed at the loss of relative simplicity from XP, increase in resource usage at similar graphics rendering demand levels, and lack of revolutionary file system and search technology. |
Unfortunately this is the OEM version of the os . Meaning the os will be tied only to that specific machine (motherboard) once installed ; unlike a retail version . |
which is OK for most people, as Microsoft change OS at the same rate as people change computers... |

Vista Ultimate works fine for me. Stable with basically no crashes - my computer is more stable than my electricity (which is a seperate issue...) I love it when people go "Vista sucks, it crashes all the time" and I get a memory dump from them and load it up in WinDbg. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy to show them that they have a POS driver crashing their machine and it's not not the OS's fault Anyway, good deal OP, but I'm stocked up on $45 copies of Ultimate |
Win7 won't around until 2010 - they pray to get it by Xmas '09 but chances are it won't happen. And then who would want to even try it before SP1 comes out for it. Vista is like ME in some aspects. Win7 will be like XP was to 98... But who knows... |
