Can we pay for the GC with a GC at HD? I was once able to do something like this at TRU.

Anyone try this yet? What kind of movie tickets do you get? I would assume it's like Hollywood Movie Money or something similar.

Fandango Ticket Codes.

Thanks Mr. C!

Thanks Mr. C! FW effect for sure.

The first HD I went into this morning had a blank slot on the gift card board where the GC should have been. (Lake Forest, CA)
I asked the Customer Service desk and they said someone came in last night and cleared them all out and called ahead to a neighboring store to get theirs. (Lake Forest, CA)

I tried a more remote store in Laguna Hills, CA and found them hidden behind a different card. Got 4 and there was about 20 left.
They are on a special white cardboard display. These are specially marked GC, that say 2 FREE Movie Tickets, Walt Disney Pictures Bedtime Stories in Theaters Dec. 25th on the top.

I'm not even sure you have to activate the card to get the movie deal? I did $25 Minimum.

I don't see why not. I know I have bought 2 $25 gift cards to places with a $50 one that I had. I think as long as you are paying them in currency they accept (no pesos please) you should be good to go.

Thanks for the awesome post OP!

I wonder if there's any chance you could use the codes to a different movie? I suppose you could just walk into a different theatre...

Since the scratch off PIN to Fandango is on the underside of the gift card itself, it's likley linked to work with a validated GC. The gift cards are easy to spot...they say "2 FREE MOVIE TICKETS" across the top of the GC carrier.

I'm just being cheap, but does anyone know if they also charge you the $1 fandango fee? Or is it waived because this ticket is for a certain movie?

I will give this a try this weekend, hope there will be some left. This also means, for those who need more than one set, you can daisy chain the gift cards (with a single $25 initial payment or no payment if you already have a GC), but I don't need to do this (I have only two adults in my house).

You can buy HD gift cards with HD gift cards, but NOT HD merchandise/store credits... unless the cashier doesn't know what they are doing.

You can't buy tickets for a different movie with fandango codes that are movie specific. BUT, as you say, you can walk into a different theatre.

The Gift Cards can be found:

A) Gift Card display near customer service desk

B) Gift Card Display near registers (some store have hang tags near two or three registers

Bottom line is, if you see them wiped out at one display, don't give up until you look at ALL the GC displays in the store. There could be as many as 4 or 5 displays.

I had no problem using it for a different movie.

sorry for the noob question, but none of the theaters in my area offer online tickets, so does that mean i'm out of luck on this deal, or is there a way to use fandango bucks "in store"?

if nothing else, maybe this post will help others to check for participating theaters before hitting up the deal as well. thanks.

My HD wouldn't let me use a GC I already had to purchase these GC.

If you hesitated on this, it's probably too late. I hit one HD near my office on Thursday and scored the last 6. Saturday, the one near my home was out. Today, hit one near my church and it was wiped out too.

EDIT - the only place it appeared they had been was in the cardboard display with 3 sides full of gift cards. There was a special place on the front side of this display, near the top left, where these cards were supposed to be. There was a label on the cardboard itself indicating this. I only hope they get restocked, I was in hurry and didn't ask Customer Service if they had more.....

I watched the bond movie using this yesterday. I bought bond movie tickets on fandango.
