Recently, I've been looking for a decent digital camera with an optical zoom better than 6X. It seemed that most of the cameras in the $120 range had mostly 3X or 4X zooms. If I wanted better, it looked like I had to spend $200 or more. Then I found this camera, which has a 12X optical zoom. This would be great if you regularly find yourself in situations where you would like to zoom in on distant birds, wildlife or scenery. Shop.com (Adorama) and bhphotovideo.com both have this camera for roughly $151 shipped.
