Since that time, gas has tripled, Cigarettes have nearly tripled, many common consumer Staples (milk, eggs, etc..) have nearly doubled, energy costs are up over 30% - food costs are up at least 30% and going higher --
Real inflation (not the phony govt numbers) has logged 50% at least since then. That's not even figuring in the massive run up in housing prices for huge parts of the country (even after figuring in the recent crash)
So based on the numbers, 9 bucks is about right.
Not that anyone without the goal of obtaining obesity needs to be eating unlimited pasta and bread.
Gorging on simple carbs spikes blood sugar, thus contributing to quick weight gain and a much higher likelihood of diabetes.

So, this is definitely not a hot deal - it's priced appropriately, and is terrible for the body to stuff your face with cheap carbs.
